By Dr. Meghan Killilea Galli, APRN, FNP-BC — Family Nurse Practitioner, Hartford, Connecticut.
When I was a new nurse practitioner, one of my first patients was a woman in her late fifties who had been quietly struggling with pelvic pain for years. She’d seen multiple providers, tried over-the-counter remedies, and even avoided social events because she feared sudden bladder leaks. When she finally walked into my exam room in Hartford, she said softly, “I just want my life back.”
That moment changed me.
It reminded me that health care is about more than test results or prescriptions—it’s about restoring confidence, dignity, and joy. That conversation planted the seed for what would later grow into Health Gardeners, a place devoted to cultivating trustworthy health information and empowering my Connecticut community to take charge of their well-being.
Why I Started Health Gardeners
Over the years, I’ve seen how confusing health information can be online. Between trending advice, outdated articles, and misinformation, many patients come to appointments feeling overwhelmed and unsure. I wanted to change that.
I founded HealthGardeners.com with a simple mission:
To help people grow informed, confident, and empowered in their health decisions.
Just as a garden thrives with consistent care, our health flourishes when we nurture it with knowledge and understanding. At Health Gardeners, we make reliable medical information accessible—written in everyday language and grounded in evidence.
Our approach is rooted in three values:
-
Evidence-based medicine — all content is supported by clinical research and best practice guidelines.
-
Whole-person wellness — addressing physical, emotional, and environmental health together.
-
Empathy and clarity — simplifying complex topics without losing accuracy.
Whether you’re exploring perimenopause, managing chronic illness, or helping your teen navigate mental health, Health Gardeners is here to meet you where you are—with compassion and clarity.
My Clinical Path: Family Medicine and Women’s Pelvic Health
I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) with over five years of experience in urology, women’s pelvic health, and family medicine. My work bridges two key aspects of care: managing chronic conditions across the lifespan and addressing women’s pelvic and reproductive health concerns, often left unspoken.
My areas of focus include:
-
Female pelvic health & urogynecology — urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, recurrent UTIs, and post-menopausal care
-
Adolescent & young adult medicine — asthma, diabetes, preventive care, and emotional well-being
-
Sexual & reproductive health — perimenopause, menopause, and wellness education
-
Chronic disease management — holistic support for hypertension, diabetes, and metabolic health
Practicing in both Hartford and New Haven, I’m privileged to serve patients from all walks of life—students, families, and retirees alike. I often see multiple generations within the same family, which creates a deeper connection and continuity of care.
Beyond the clinic, I contribute to local wellness panels, preventive health workshops, and public education initiatives. My passion lies in helping Connecticut residents make informed, confident decisions about their health—because empowered patients lead to healthier communities.
Building Trust, One Conversation at a Time
Every patient’s story matters. I believe that effective care starts with listening—not just to symptoms, but to the person behind them.
That same philosophy guides everything at Health Gardeners. Each article combines clinical expertise with human understanding, written to educate without intimidation. We don’t just tell readers what to do—we explain why it matters and how to take action.
Our goal isn’t to replace your clinician—it’s to make every visit more meaningful by helping you feel informed and prepared. Whether you’re decoding your lab results or exploring lifestyle changes, we’re here to support your health journey with reliable, empathetic information.
A Personal Note to My Readers
As both a clinician and a neighbor, I know that health is something we cultivate over time—with patience, curiosity, and care. I’m honored that you’re here, taking that step toward learning and growth.
Through Health Gardeners, my goal is to build a community rooted in trust, science, and compassion. My promise is simple:
Every word you read here will be written with honesty, evidence, and heart.
If you’d like to join our growing community, subscribe to the Health Gardeners newsletter, follow us on social media, or reach out with questions. Let’s grow health together—one reader, one conversation, one small step at a time.
